Mormonism’s Abortion Shame

January 3, 2009 · 1 Comment

 This subject needs no introduction.

The following is a recent quote from President Gordon B. Hinckley on the Mormon church’s official stance on abortion:

“While we denounce it, we make allowance in such circumstances as when pregnancy is the result of incest or rape, when the life or health of the mother is judged by competent medical authority to be in serious jeopardy, or when the fetus is known by competent medical authority to have serious defects that will not allow the baby to survive beyond birth. But such instances are rare, and there is only a negligible probability of their occurring. In these circumstances those who face the question are asked to consult with their local ecclesiastical leaders and to pray in great earnestness, receiving a confirmation through prayer before proceeding.” (The Ensign Nov.1998 pg.71)

This is a quote from the President of the Mormon church! And here is is, saying it is ok to murder innocent children in the womb. But first, he says, you should pray for ‘receiving a confirmation through through prayer’. Oh, ok, so you should wait for the ‘God’ of Mormonism to confirm that it is ok to slaughter your unborn child. One wonders what kind of ‘God’ that would be Certainly not the God of the Bible, Whose Word says

‘You created my inmost self,
knit me together in my mother’s womb.
For so many marvels I thank you;
a wonder am I, and all your works are wonders.’ (Psalm 139: 13-14; NJB)

Yes, folks, even unwanted unborn children, those who are handicapped, those who are conceived as a result of rape or incest are ‘a wonder’. Our Lord says elsewhere

‘Let the little children come to me, and do not stop them; for it is to such as these that the kingdom of God belongs.’ (Gospel of St. Matthew 18:16; NJB)

So there you have it, folks. The Mormon church with its supposedly wholesome family-oriented appeal, and its claim to being a Christian church, actually allows the killing of unborn children.

It is hard to believe, isn’t it?
